WHEN ELECTION DON REACH, EVERYTHING IS FALA FALA

When Election Don Reach, Everything Is Fala Fala

They will be empowerment programs from politicians fala fala.

Politicians will put their direct telephone numbers in all their documents, put their telephone numbers on billboards as we are seeing in Calabar already, answer and return all calls, reply all text messages no matter how stale or short the reply and reply all e-mails fala fala.

Politicians will attend all manner of invitations from house warming to burials to anniversaries to weddings to naming ceremonies, to village meetings to age grade meetings fala fala.

Politicians will pay people's school fees, house rents, hospital bills, burial expenses and even put food on people's tables fala fala.

Politicians will pay alot of unexpected visits to the most unlikely places and snap so many unlikely photos fala fala.

Politicians will chain their dogs and give their gatemen and stern looking security personnel new lessons on how to handle their visitors who will come fala fala.

Politicians will smile at everyone, pat everyone on the back, possible give some people some "guy-names" and make them feel important fala fala.

Politicians will sha try, at all, at all, to respond to our requests. Even if they can't do all, they will try small, depending on how important you are in their calculations.

I actually wish every year was election year, our people will really see the dividends of democracy.

But don't be fooled. The party has a closing hour. Once they are done, you become a parcel in the drawer till you are needed again. So just share in the moments while they last. But look beyond their goodies.

Let me tell you! It's time to ask for quality leadership. It's time to elect people that have a service to deliver. A seed to sow. A task to accomplish. A dream to realise!

These seasonal niceties have not appeased our long term expectations. We now must make a choice about what we want.

A short term on polished oak tables or a long term on solid rocks.

Go and get your voters' card in the LG secretariat nearest to you NOW.
