MAN UTD TRANSFER TARGET PASSES MEDICAL AS REAL MADRID CLOSE IN ON DEAL
Manchester United have been linked to a number of players since the close of the summer transfer window back in August.
The winter transfer window has been open for more than a week now and there have been no new signings or sales so far this month.
One player we have been strongly linked with, that the Daily Star only reported on New Year’s Eve that he wanted to sign for us, is Internazionale striker Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine international is one of the most sought-after strikers among the biggest football clubs in the world, having been prolific with the Serie A giants despite them not having a team to compete for the Scudetto in recent years.
Icardi has scored 18 goals in 20 Serie A appearances this season after scoring 24 in 34 last season. He has been prolific with the 18-times champions of Italy every season since joining from Sampdoria in 2013.
According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, the Argentine international looks set to become Real Madrid’s first January signing after passing a medical with the club in secret.
Real Madrid are currently 16 points behind Barcelona in La Liga, albeit with one game in hand. Zinedine Zidane’s side have really struggled in front of goal this season compared to when they won the title back in May. Last season they scored an average of 2.88 goals per game, whilst so far this season they are only averaging 1.88 per game.
It comes as no surprise to see that Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their attack with Karim Benzema not consistent up front anymore. However, it appears it will be a big blow to Manchester United as we look set to miss out on Icardi to the world football giants.
