Finally Fulani Herdsmen Has Clash With Cross River Community, allegedly kill APC Councillorship aspirant

A group of some Fulani Herdsmen has clashed with Itigidi community, the hometown of the former governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke and the headquarters of Abi Local Government Area, and allegedly killed an All Progressives Congress, APC Councillorship aspirant on Monday.
NIGERIAPEN gathered through a phone call to a resident of the invaded community who pleaded anonymity, that, the Fulani herdsmen accused Itigidi community of killing one of their cow as some monarchs were invited by the police.

“The Fulani Herdsmen accused the people of killing their cow. And some of the chiefs and youth leaders were invited by policemen at Ugep Divisional Police in Yakurr LGA to be interrogated.
“This singular act irked the angry and furious youths who demanded that their chiefs be interrogated in Itigidi Divisional Police Headquarters”.

Another source said, the Fulani Herdsmen didn’t kill Dr Isong No Joke, but the police at Ugep did.
When contacted by NIGERIAPEN, the Police spokesperson, ASP Irene Ugbo confirmed the incident, saying the Fulani Herdsmen didn’t attack the Abi community, adding that, the community had some misunderstanding with the Fulani Herdsmen and in that process some cows were killed.
“It is not Fulani Herdsmen, The problem is that, the community had problem with Fulani Herdsmen whereby some cows were slaughtered. And it was reported at the Division”.
ASP Ugbo further explained what happened at the Police station. She said, “What happened was that the DPO invited the community Leaders to come so they can settle the Herdsmen based on the cows that were slaughtered. When they were invited to the Station, the Abi youths got the information wrongly that the DPO have arrested their community Leaders because of the Herdsmen; they have to come and pay money and all that. They were so angry, but that was not the right information; so they started making troubles.
“They went to the Division and wanted to burn down the division; they were even fighting the police. In that process, they started throwing all sort of things on the Police, threatening to burn the police station and in that process, one of them was shot”.
On why the youths stormed the Ugep police station, requesting why the police decided to take the case to Ugep in Yakurr LGA and not Itigidi in Abi LGA, ASP Irene Ugbo said, “Is it not the same thing? As far as it is the police, is it the same thing to handle any case at any station. Meanwhile, they would have laid their complaints rightly and Ugep Divisional Police would have transferred the case to Itigidi Divisional Police. It is a very simple case”
