Chelsea’s double blow: Arsenal & Edin Dzeko

Chelsea’s rough Wednesday night

It was third time lucky for Arsenal on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup.
For the third time in a short period, Arsenal and Chelsea went head-to-head on the pitch.
A few weeks ago Chelsea held Arsenal to a 2-2 draw in the Premier League, while the first leg of their League Cup semifinal at Stamford Bridge ended 0-0.
But Arsenal broke the draw cycle with a 2-1 win to book their spot against Man City in the first cup final of the season.
Goals from Nacho Monreal (via Toni Rudiger’s head) and Granit Xhaka saw Arsenal advance to Wembley.

First Arsenal, second Edin Dzeko?

Did Chelsea suffer a double blow on Wednesday night?
At the same time as the Gunners knocked the Blues out the Carabao Cup, Antonio Conte’s side could have lost out on signing Roma forward Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko was in fact in action for Roma last night. And the Bosnian scored an injury time leveller as Roma drew 1-1 at Sampdoria in Serie A.

For the record, Chelsea target Emerson Palmeiri was left on the bench for Roma’s away match at Samp.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who works for the likes of the Guardian, it’s beginning to look like Dzeko may steer clear of a move to Stamford Bridge.
In the past twenty-four hours the narrative has switched as Dzeko, 32 in March, seems unhappy with Chelsea’s proposal to move to London.
Dzeko seems to be seeking assurances about how he’ll be used if he joins Chelsea, and, reading between the lines, Dzeko isn’t hearing what he wants.
